China to build 16 storage bunkers to receive Kazakh grain

Delegations of railway workers from Kazakhstan and China exchanged at the border stations Alashankou and Dostyk. The Kazakh delegation was shown the work of the loading terminals and told about the plans and prospects for development, World of NAN reports quoting KTZh.

The Alashankou station is a key transport link for the development of trade ties between China and Kazakhstan. The single-track railroad running through Alashankou has reached its maximum capacity. In this regard, the Chinese side is building a second line of the Jinghe - Alashankou section.

There is a transshipment terminal for each type of cargo. The terminals are also working on extending the tracks, which will increase their capacity from 30 to 54 cars and accept export cargo from Kazakhstan up to 5 trains per day.

A terminal for unloading grain cargoes is located in the Bond area. Capacity of the approach track is 53 grain carriers. Reloading terminal can accommodate 7 grain carriers. It takes 6-7 minutes to unload one car, and 4-5 hours for one train. Daily unloading rate is 6 thousand tons.

There are 5 bunkers at the grain terminal, the capacity of each - 1200 tons. Construction of another 16 bunkers with the storage capacity of over 200 thousand tons has begun. Commissioning is scheduled for the summer of 2023.

In April this year the average daily reception of trains by the Chinese side was 14 trains at Alashankou and 8 trains at Khorgos station. To meet the agreed plan of 26.1 million tons, it is planned to increase this figure for Alashankou station to 16-18 trains, for Khorgos station - up to 10 trains.
