The processing of hides and wool, as well as their export, is one of the serious problems of the agrarian industry not only in Akmola Region, but also in the whole of Kazakhstan, reports World of NAN with reference to the NCE.
According to farmers, after the export duty was introduced, the hides became redundant. Their export has become economically impractical, and there is virtually no demand for them inside the country.
"The procurement prices of hides within the country have collapsed. As a result, millions of hides were simply disposed of. About 3.4 million pieces are produced by the slaughter of bovine cattle, 7.9 million by small cattle. This raw material is valued all over the world. However, only 15% of raw materials from large cattle are processed in Kazakhstan, and there is nothing at all on small cattle," said Kuanysh Rakishev, chairman of the council of the agro-industrial complex and food industry.
According to Azamat Shalmagambetov, director of MV4 LLP, the company managed to sell raw materials only once this year, providing about 8 tons to the Taraz tannery.
"The proposed price - 130 tenge per wet-salted cattle hide - is low and inadequate. It demotivates processors. Our warehouse is full, we don't know where to put it. Plus we incur losses due to storage costs. It is necessary to divide hides into marketable and non-marketable, and allow meat processing plants to export them. It's better to let all raw materials be exported and processed outside the country," Azamat Shalmagambetov said.
As usual, the short-sighted authorities, who banned the export of raw materials, are to blame for everything. Their scribbling on paper led to the loss of huge revenues of Kazakh entrepreneurs.
