The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan signed the Program of Cooperation

The countries intend to increase mutual trade and implement joint investment projects in the agricultural sector. The respective Cooperation Program was signed by the heads of the Ministries of Agriculture of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in the framework of a business forum in Tashkent, reports World of NAN.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, the issues of cooperation in the sphere were discussed during the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan.

In particular, according to the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Yerbol Karashukeyev, there are plans to implement 12 investment projects worth 193.1 million dollars and organize the supply of 2.1 million tons of agricultural products, including potatoes, vegetables, meat and meat products in the amount of $ 1.2 billion until 2025.

"If we look at the statistics of trade turnover between our countries in agricultural products, we can see that there are stable supplies from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. We mutually complement our food needs. One of the important issues is to create favorable conditions for increasing trade turnover by reducing tariffs, including transit tariffs, simplification of trade and transit procedures, application of transparent trade policy towards each other", - said Yerbol Karashukeyev during the meeting of the two Presidents.

It should be noted that trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on agricultural products has a positive trend and in the first 10 months of this year grew by 31% to more than $ 1.4 billion. The volume of exports from Kazakhstan amounted to more than 1.165 billion dollars. Domestic agricultural producers sell to Uzbekistan mainly wheat, - sunflower oil, flour and cattle meat as well as pasta and potatoes. The Uzbek side sold fruits and vegetables to Kazakhstan for 233.7 million dollars.
