Why agricultural exhibitions are not held in the regions?

Every year, the largest agricultural exhibitions are held in the capital and in Almaty, which gather thousands of farmers. However, not everyone can participate in them and they wish to hold exhibitions in the regions. World of NAN journalist investigated why this practice is still impossible.

Agricultural exhibitions are primarily aimed at building links between farmers and dealers of machinery, equipment, fertilizers and others. The main advantage of exhibitions for farmers is a huge selection of goods in one place and direct consultation with specialized experts. In addition, in such a place you can find a lot of partners and knowledge. Therefore, agricultural exhibition is a unique and useful event for all farmers.

There is a need for such events in every region of Kazakhstan. Sholpan Kozhabayeva, director of ExpoGroup and organizer of the largest agricultural exhibitions in the country "KazAgro/KazFarm", explained why they are not held there.

"To organize an exhibition there must be sufficient infrastructure. Unfortunately, not all regions and even large cities have sites for the exhibition. Some places do not even have high category hotels. And we as organizers are obliged to create appropriate conditions for our participants. Of course there is a strong desire, but so far we are not ready to hold exhibitions in the regions," explained Sholpan Kozhabayeva.

According to her, even in Astana, the international exhibition center "EXPO" cannot accommodate all the exhibitors. And it is inexpedient to hold the exhibition outside, as the event may be spoiled by unfavorable weather conditions.

"Kazakhstan has every opportunity to become an agrarian power. That is why it is necessary to prioritize agriculture in the exhibition business. As it gives an additional impetus for development", - emphasized the director of ExpoGroup.

It is worth noting that the organizers are ready to reach out to the regions, but it is impossible to do so until there is adequate infrastructure. Therefore, if the authorities want to develop the industry, they should think about this issue.
