Grey imports: 12 criminal cases were opened against farmers

Twelve criminal cases have been opened against farmers in Pavlodar Region. The amount of damage caused by grey imports of grain exceeds four billion tenge, World of NAN reports with reference to inform.kz.

Ten criminal cases have been sent to court with the established damage of more than 4.1 billion tenge.

"Grey grain is imported in large volumes. Unscrupulous local entrepreneurs indulge in it. In order to give legitimacy to the origin of this grain, under the guise of Kazakhstani grain they write fictitious invoices, thus committing a criminal offence. As a result, our domestic producers suffer," explained Yerik Essenov, head of the Department of Economic Development in Pavlodar Oblast.

Such machinations can carry real jail time. For example, the head of one peasant farm wrote fictitious invoices and received a criminal income of 50 million tenge. With this money he bought a car and a flat in an elite residential complex. According to the court verdict, he was found guilty and imprisoned for three years with confiscation of property. And such examples are not few.

Since the beginning of 2024, 16 criminal cases under Article 216 of the Criminal Code have been registered, 2 of them are still in progress. And last year 30 offences related to the issuance of invoices without the actual performance of work, provision of services, shipment of goods were revealed. The damage totalled 6.3 billion tenge.
