There will be no pasture farming in the country at this rate

According to space monitoring data, in 2023, 87.2% of all pasture lands in Kazakhstan were in poor and very poor condition, or had no vegetation at all, World of NAN reports with reference to Energyprom.kz.

In total, out of 80.8 million hectares, the area of ​​such lands was 70.5 million hectares. The share of pastures in satisfactory condition is 10.2%, in good condition – 2.1%, in excellent condition – 0.5%.

Of the 17 regions last year, in 15 the share of pastures without vegetation, or in poor or very poor condition, was above 80%, and in 10 – even above 90%. The worst situation is in the Mangystau region, where such poor pastures make up 99.4% of all agricultural land.

The top five outsiders with the worst indicators also include Atyrau (98.1%), Ulytau (97.4%), Zhambyl (95.7%) and Turkestan (93.6%) regions. The richest pastures were Kostanay and East Kazakhstan regions. Here the negative indicators are lower than for other territories - 57.4% and 72.2%, respectively.

According to forecasts, by 2030 the country's pasture carrying capacity will decrease by 10%.
