Digital traceability of livestock is being introduced in Kazakhstan

Due to the new module "Veterinary and Sanitary Examination of Meat" in the Information System for Identification of Agricultural Animals (ISIAI), the process of issuing certificates with the act of examination at slaughter sites and formation of a QR code with information on the full life cycle of the animal has been digitized, reports World of NAN with reference to the government.

This QR is placed at the places of meat sale, it will allow to prevent the slaughter of animals without veterinary inspection and examination of carcasses and organs.

The new module is being tested in pilot mode in Almaty, Pavlodar and Zhetisu regions.

This approach has also been introduced at border checkpoints. Information about arriving cargoes is entered into the information system, and electronic forms of inspection and sampling reports are generated and sent to the state veterinary inspector and veterinary laboratory employee. The system has already been successfully tested at the border points of Pavlodar region.

Also, Vice-Minister of Agriculture Amangaly Berdalin noted that in all large rural districts it is necessary to open slaughter sites with a laboratory of veterinary and sanitary expertise.

"Since slaughterhouses were opened as a forced measure for the transition period, we are now working on amending the legislation, after which slaughterhouses as such will no longer exist," said the Vice-Minister.
