Only 8% of scientific developments are implemented in agriculture in Kazakhstan. The constraining factor is that farmers simply have no money, World of NAN reports with reference to 24.kz.
As a result, grain yields without new agro-technologies remain low, and the number of cattle is lower than in the early 1990s.
"The problem is that we have transferred the funding of science to a competitive basis. Yes, this is a Western model, the scientific project that has greater efficiency should win. But excuse me, this is science! Out of a hundred projects only one can succeed, so 99 projects are obviously unprofitable," said Majilis deputy Anas Bakkozhayev.
Because of poor implementation of science, farmers have low profitability. Therefore, the agrarian sector remains unattractive for investment.
