Veterinary services in West Kazakhstan Region were allocated 4.8 billion tenge, but 1,500 cattle died due to disease

The Anti-Corruption Service of West Kazakhstan Region conducted epizootic monitoring in the sphere of veterinary control, and the results of the monitoring revealed a number of problems, reports World of NAN with reference to NCE.

According to Muratbek Kasymov, the first deputy of the region's Anti-Corruption Service, 4.8 billion tenge was allocated for the development of the veterinary industry, and despite this, there was an outbreak of particularly dangerous diseases (21 cases were registered), due to which 1,516 heads of sick cattle had to be slaughtered. More than 15 million tenge was spent on compensation of damage to the population.

"Monitoring has shown that the current situation is caused by massive violations on the part of veterinary services of local executive bodies, lack of proper control over compliance with veterinary legislation, irrational spending of budgetary funds, as well as inefficient management of the veterinary service system," emphasized Murabek Kasymov.

According to him, the veterinary control bodies do not have information about the number of livestock. Thus, an undercount of up to 18,600 cattle was found in the database, and this is fraught with the fact that entrepreneurs may lose state support.
