Innovative method to keep milk fresh for up to two months introduced by Australians

One of Australia's leading dairy companies has invented an innovative method of keeping natural milk fresh for up to 60 days. The innovation lies in the fact that milk is not pasteurized, which is most often used for long-term storage of the product, but undergoes a different treatment process, reports World of NAN.

The company has deliberately avoided additives or preservatives. The natural milk retains its original nutritional value. So far, the company's management has kept the patented processing technology a secret, noting only that it uses a multi-step process that eliminates the thermal effects normally used in pasteurization.

Naturo's developers say that milk treated with the new method retains high levels of vitamin B2 and B12 and fully preserves enzymes that are crucial for liver function and bone development, which are most often destroyed by pasteurization. The new technology also kills more pathogens than traditional heat treatment, experts say.

Company founder Jeff Hastings notes in a media interview that the validation work with government agencies took a very long time. As a result, the developers managed to prove that the milk is safe for human consumption and retains all the useful properties. The innovative development underwent independent expertise and validation by the industry regulatory body Dairy Food Safety Victoria. This organization approved the process of milk processing by the new method and found it safe.

It is worth noting that the Australian government is well-supported by businessmen supplying farm products to the market. A grant of $1 million was also given to the above-mentioned company.

The management plans to use the funds to complete work on a pilot plant in Queensland, where the first batches of milk will be produced as early as in February. Part of the funds will be used to build a full-scale facility in Tasmania.

Australian Minister of Industry, Science and Technology Karen Andrews emphasized that government funding will help Naturo commercialize the innovative development.

The government believes that the sale of milk with a 60-day shelf life will provide an opportunity to provide a natural product and residents of remote communities in Australia, which are limited supply of quality and natural milk.

At first, the milk will be sold in Australia. In the future, the company intends to export its milk to Asia, as well as to countries that have a shortage of quality milk for cheese production.

The company founder believes that the developed milk processing method will interest local farmers and motivate them to increase milk production.
