New technologies for storing and evaluating potato yields

New innovative developments to improve the efficiency of farms were presented at this year's traditional international exhibition of the potato industry British Potato, World of NAN reports with reference to freshplaza.

This year, a company particularly distinguished itself by presenting two new inventions at the event - a sensor for in-store potato monitoring and an app for estimating potential yields.

The new monitoring device is made in the form of a potato and has special antennas. These are the sensors that measure and track the temperature, humidity and CO2 levels in the store. The data collected by the sensors allows producers to assess storage conditions and take measures to prevent the vegetable from rotting in the store.

The developer company also unveiled an app at the show that predicts tuber size and estimates the crop from a photo taken in the field. After entering some data into the app and a photo of a sample crop, the app will calculate the estimated tuber size distribution, the estimated total weight of the crop and future profits. According to the developers, the new program will also help growers identify areas of fields with poor performance.
