It is more profitable to sell live cattle to China

Maksut Baktibayev, Director General of the Meat Union of Kazakhstan, explained why it is much more efficient to sell live cattle to China, World of NAN reports.

After the head of state's visit to Beijing, agreements were reached under which the Chinese side is conducting inspections in Kazakhstan's veterinary sector. If the party is satisfied with the state of the sector, they will resume buying meat and live cattle from Kazakhstan.

"Despite the fact that the price in China is now low in the long term it will give us the opportunity to increase production volumes. For example, in Kazakhstan for a bull of 500 kilogrammes you can earn an average of 500,000 tenge for meat. In China, if you cut this bull for meat, you will get the same 250kg of meat and 150kg of by-products, which are food. And it costs not 2000 tenge there, but 3000 tenge. These products are in high demand because the cuisine there is different. That is, the price for by-products is higher than for ordinary meat. Accordingly, we will receive not 500,000 tenge as here, but a million," Maksut Baktibayev explained.

Moreover, there is no need to pressurise the development of processing inside the country, as these products are not in high demand in our country. At the same time, the Chinese side is not engaged in separate imports of by-products.

If livestock breeders will earn on import of live cattle to China, this money will come to Kazakhstan's economy. This is a good trend to strengthen livestock breeding in the country as a whole.
