Mineral fertilizer plant to be built in Zhambyl region

A Russian company will build a mineral fertilizer plant in Zhambyl Region, World of NAN reports citing the press service of the Parliament.

Yesterday at the plenary session of Majilis the deputies approved a draft law on ratification of the Agreement between Kazakhstan and Russia on implementation of the project "Construction and Operation of Mineral Fertilizers Plant".

"The agreement provides for the creation of necessary investment and regulatory conditions to ensure the construction and operation in Zhambyl region of an innovative chemical complex with a full production cycle from extraction of phosphate raw materials to the production of export-oriented products - mineral fertilizers and associated industrial products," said Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov.

Thus, the project is implemented in two stages. The initial stage was completed: a mining-ore complex was put into operation and phosphate rock extraction was set up at 660,000 tonnes per year, and a crushing and fine grinding unit with a capacity of 640,000 tonnes per year was built. The second stage is the construction of a chemical complex for the production of mineral fertilizers and industrial products with an annual capacity of at least 1 million tonnes.
